The 50th playing of Canada’s National Women’s Open is set for July 23-28, 2024 in Calgary
Golf Canada, in partnership with the title sponsor Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), is pleased to announce that select tickets for the 2024 CPKC Women’s Open are now on sale.
The 50th playing of the CPKC Women’s Open will take place at Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary from July 23-28, 2024. It will mark the seventh time that the province of Alberta has hosted Canada’s National Women’s Open Championship, the fourth time for the City of Calgary and first time ever at Earl Grey.
Originally founded in 1919 as a five-hole layout and now on its current site overlooking the picturesque Glenmore Reservoir since 1932, Earl Grey is world-class championship facility located in the heart of Calgary. The club, which features an 18-hole championship course as well as a nine-hole Par 3, has hosted numerous major provincial, national and international competitions. Earl Grey underwent an extensive renovation project in 2018 that included construction of a brand-new clubhouse along with extensive on-course renovations, featuring new greens and an enhanced irrigation system along with a full bunker renovation.

Canada’s National Women’s Open heads to Calgary riding the momentum of being named the LPGA Tour’s 2023 Tournament of the Year, the second consecutive year that the CPKC Women’s Open has taken home top honour at the LPGA Tour’s season-end tournament awards celebration last month. The 2023 CPKC Women’s Open hosted this past summer at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver also won additional awards for the Best Sponsor Activation and Best Volunteer Appreciation.
One of Canada’s premier annual sporting events, the CPKC Women’s Open marks the only Canadian stop on the LPGA Tour schedule. The week-long celebration of golf attracts the world’s best players, including 13-time LPGA Tour winner and CPKC Ambassador Brooke Henderson along with defending champion Megan Khang who defeated 2019 champion Jin Young Ko on the first hole of a playoff to earn her first LPGA Tour win.
CPKC will once again leave a meaningful legacy in the host community through its CPKC Has Heart campaign. This past year, CPKC raised nearly $3.5 million for children’s heart health with donations of $2.9 million to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and $580,000 to the Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) Foundation.
The 2024 CPKC Women’s Open at Earl Grey offers three select ticket options now on sale for golf fans to experience the thrill of live professional golf at Canada’s National Women’s Open Championship. The advance ticket options include:

Canada’s CPKC Women’s Open once again named LPGA Tour’s tournament of year

The CPKC Women’s Open has won the LPGA Tour’s highest tournament honour for the second consecutive year.
The event, hosted Aug. 22-27 at Vancouver’s Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club, was named the back-to-back winner of tour’s tournament of the Year at the LPGA’s annual year-end tournament awards Wednesday night.
“We really have a secret sauce,” tournament director Ryan Paul told The Canadian Press at the CME Group Tour Championship, the final event of the LPGA Tour season. “It’s really an incredible golf tournament. You’ve got the best players in the world a rope-line away from you, but outside the ropes there are so many great things that you can see and do.”
The Canadian tournament also won for best sponsor activation and best volunteer appreciation at the ceremony hosted at Tiburon Golf Club.
The sponsor nod was a culmination of the tournament’s partner programming like the Brooke Brigade fan zone. Unique for this year — and specially recognized — was a junior clinic at the Musqueam Golf and Learning Centre for First Nations youth hosted by star-in-waiting Rose Zhang. Zhang became the first golfer in 72 years to win in her pro debut on the LPGA Tour when she captured the Mizuho Americas Open in June.
The volunteer award stemmed from a new initiative where every player, caddie, and staff on site at Shaughnessy was given a poker chip to give to a volunteer who they recognized were going above-and-beyond their call of duty. The poker chip could be redeemed for prizes. There were more than 1,300 volunteers this year.
“A number like that you can see how important they are to the success of the event,” Paul said. “Without them we don’t have a golf tournament.”

The 2024 LPGA Tour schedule was announced Thursday, with the CPKC Women’s Open set for July 25-28 at Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary.
“(With) the schedule, not going to lie … I was a little worried when we were going to change our date to July. The Olympics always messes things up,” Paul said. “But I spent some time talking to the players this week and they love our event. They’re not going to miss it for the world. They’re happy the schedule has a nice flow.”
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the CPKC Women’s Open. Paul said there are going to be a lot of announcements to come in celebration of the history of the tournament over the coming months. And he said a “three-peat” next year would be extra special as the event celebrates an important milestone.
The two-time tournament of the year will see its purse increased for 2024 to US$2.6 million, up from $2.5 million.
The total prize fund for the 2024 LPGA Tour season will be more than US$118 million, the highest ever in tour history and up a staggering 69 per cent from three years ago.
The tour will travel to 15 states and 10 countries and will feature three new events in 2024.
Announced earlier this week, the CME Group Tour Championship — the LPGA Tour’s season finale that features only the top 60 golfers on the yearlong Race to CME Globe — increased its purse from $7 million to $11 million with an impressive $4 million given to the winner. Only one event on the PGA Tour has a first-place prize of higher than $4 million.
“The money says that they’re valued in what they do as the top 60 players in the world playing here,” said LPGA Tour commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan. “And they should be compensated commensurate with that unbelievable world-class talent.”
The 2024 season will begin Jan. 18 with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, Fla., where Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont. will be the defending champion.

Sunday, August 27, 2023 – Megan Khang rolled in her par putt on the first playoff hole to defeat Jin Young Ko and win the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver.
After dropping a stroke on 17, Khang needed a birdie on the final hole to force a playoff with Ko, who finished with a 3-under round of 69 to sit as the clubhouse leader. Khang went on to birdie and force a playoff that began on the 18th hole. On the first playoff hole, Khang two-putted to secure the championship.
“It feels like it hasn’t even sunk in yet. Honestly, I was kind of stressing the whole day, past two days. I relied pretty heavily on Jack (her caddie). At the end of the week to be on top, it’s huge and like the feeling just hasn’t really sunk in, so hopefully it does soon,” said Khang with a laugh.
Khang finished with rounds of 71-66-68-74= 279 (-9) to secure the first LPGA Tour victory of her career. Prior to the victory, Khang had 34 Top-10 finishes, including today’s historic win in her career.
Khang’s win was the first playoff victory at the CPKC Women’s Open since 2015, when Lydia Ko defeated Stacey Lewis at the Vancouver Golf Club. Khang’s win is also the first by an American player since Brittany Lincicome in 2011.
Brooke Henderson bounced back on Sunday, shooting a 68 to finish the tournament at 2-under and T13, earning her the Sandra Post Medal, as the low Canadian.

VANCOUVER – Big crowds and memorable performances during the CPKC Women’s Open helped Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) raise nearly $3.5 million for children’s heart health, with $2.9 million to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and $580,000 to the Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) Foundation.
Megan Khang finished the week with a dramatic playoff win to take home her first LPGA Tour victory and the US$350,000 winner’s share of the US$2.5 million purse, one of the largest for a non-major on the LPGA Tour.
“The CPKC Women’s Open returned to Vancouver this week showcasing the best golfers in the world,” said Keith Creel, CPKC President and CEO. “On behalf of the entire CPKC family, I want to congratulate Megan Khang on her win! It was a tremendous week of golf. Together, we raised the biggest amount ever during our sponsorship of this this event, this year all in support of children’s heart health in B.C.
“CPKC is honored to continue making a lasting difference in communities across Canada through CPKC Has Heart, our community investment program supporting heart health initiatives,” Creel added. “Over the last decade as title sponsor of the CPKC Women’s Open, through CPKC Has Heart we’ve raised nearly $20 million for children’s heart health.”
This year’s total donation is the result of several fundraising efforts of the CPKC Has Heart campaign. Through CPKC Birdies for Heart, CPKC contributed for each birdie made by Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club members prior to the tournament and $5,000 for each birdie made by LPGA players on the 16th hole during championship tournament play at Shaughnessy. CPKC also matched donations made during a BC Children’s Hospital Foundation campaign online in February, which is heart month.
“One in every 100 children in BC is born with a heart defect, and BC Children’s Hospital’s Heart Centre is there for them,” said Malcolm Berry, President and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “The centre provides specialized care and treatment through more than 10,000 patient visits each year. With CPKC’s generous support of the Heart Centre’s physical spaces, patients and families will soon have a true place of healing and comfort, while health care teams will collaborate in ways never before possible. Saturday, August 26, 2023 – Megan Khang heads into Sunday’s final round looking to secure her first career win on the LPGA Tour. She’ll be playing in the final pairing for the second straight day and will do so with a three-shot lead over Sei Young Kim.
Khang’s round began with six consecutive pars before recording back-to-back birdies on seven and eight. Khang strung together three more birdies in a row from 14 through 16 and added one more on 18 to shoot 68 on Saturday and get to 11-under for the tournament.
Kim flirted with potentially reaching the tournament course record throughout her round that featured a hole-in-one on the par three, 8th hole and an eagle on 14 to finish with a 67. Jodi Ewart Shadoff tied Kim for low round of the day, also shooting a 67 and is at 4-under for the tournament.
This marks the third consecutive CPKC Women’s Open that Megan Khang has entered the final round with a combined three-day score of 205.
Brooke Henderson shot 75 on Saturday and sits at 2-over for the tournament. Alena Sharp is at 7-over following a 78 today.

Friday, August 25, 2023 – One day after Yuka Saso shot a 6-under 66 to set a Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club tournament course record, Megan Khang went out and did the same on Friday at the CPKC Women’s Open.
Khang made the turn at one-under and finished strongly with five straight birdies on holes 11 through 15, to get to 6-under on the day. Khang closed with three consecutive pars in a bogey free round. She takes a one-shot lead into the weekend over Linn Grant who shot a 71 on Friday and sits at 6-under for the tournament. 2019 CPKC Women’s Open champion, Jin Young Ko is two back at 5-under along with first round leader, Yuka Saso.
Brooke Henderson bounced back with a bogey-free round of 68 on Friday and is at 1-under for the tournament in T11. Joining Henderson into weekend play is Alena Sharp, who shot 75 on Friday and sits even par for the tournament.

Thursday, August 24, 2023 – Yuka Saso shot a 6-under 66 to set a Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club tournament course record and leads by three after the opening round of the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open.
Saso began her round on the back nine and shot an even-par 36. She recorded four straight front-nine birdies to close with a 6-under 30. Her round of 66 breaks the previous tournament record of 67 set by Michiko Hattori during the 1988 Canadian Ladies’ Amateur Championship at Shaughnessy. Saso sits atop the leaderboard, one shot ahead of Linn Grant who sits at 5-under 67.
Alena Sharp of Hamilton, Ont. leads the Canadian contingent and sits in a tie for third after shooting a 3-under, 69 on Thursday morning. Team Canada amateur Brooke Rivers of Brampton, Ont. shot a 1-under, 71 and sits T13.

“I think it’s a good golf course. I think it’s a little bit tricky. Some of the lengths of holes are playing for the firmness of greens, I think you’ll see the officials hopefully move some of the holes up just to -some of the greens just aren’t made for 5s and 6-irons. They’re made for a little bit shorter clubs. Hopefully officials will adjust there a little bit and make it a little bit more playable, because it’s just one of those courses you can hit a good shot and it hits on a downslope and goes over the back. It’s going to be a great test. Nothing crazy under par is going to win this thing. You look back at the history here, it was single digits under par. I think you’ll see more of the same.”

Wednesday, August 23 is Championship Pro-Am Day at the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open. The event will see professional golfers entertain a field of amateurs as part of the LPGA Tour’s ‘Nine and Nine’ Pro-Am format, where amateur participants will play nine holes each with a pair of LPGA Tour professionals. “Yeah, this week is a big deal. It’s the highlight of my year pretty much every year. It’s exciting to get to be so close to so many fans, and regardless of where we are in the country, the fans and the crowds come out to watch. Just to feel that kind of love and support, it’s really special. I try to do my best and try to sign a bunch of autographs and take pictures, but also trying to make sure that I give the right amount of time for myself to really prepare and get the right amount of rest so I can go out and perform on Thursday through Sunday. Winning this championship back in 2018 is definitely the highlight of my career, so I would love to be able to do that again someday.”

“It was such a dream for me to win. Every tournament I go into I’m thinking about that moment, all the good stuff that happened and everything that worked out. We strive for that and I still strive for that every day. But just knowing I can do it and able to do it here in Canada was amazing. And then I know it’s probably the hardest thing to defend your title, but I’m enjoying everybody here, the atmosphere, and just that stuff makes me a little bit more calmer, a little bit more easy and having to play. But such great vibes, and I’m so lucky to have won and I really want to do it again.
Reto is trying to become the third player in tournament history to successfully defend the championship and would join Lydia Ko (2012 & 2013) and Pat Bradley (1985 & 1986).

FOUR PLAYERS EARN FINAL SPOTS INTO CPKC WOMEN’S OPEN…
The full field of 156 golfers competing for the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open is now set after the final four spots were secured during Monday’s final qualifier at Point Grey Golf & Country Club. 14-year-old Alice Ziyi Zhao (Irvine, Calif.) shot a 3-under, 69 to finish in the top spot. Joining her are Kum-Kang Park (Seoul, Republic of Korea) who shot a 2-under, 70 along with Luna Lu (Surrey, B.C.) and Magdalena Simmermacher (Buenos Aires, Argentina) who both shot rounds of 1-under, 71 to qualify. With Lu’s qualification there will be 15 Canadians competing for the National Open Championship this week at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club.

CPKC WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP SUMMIT SET FOR TUESDAY
Golf Canada and CPKC will host the sixth annual CPKC Women’s Leadership Summit on Tuesday, August 22 at nearby Marine Drive Golf Club as part of the weeklong excitement of the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open. The CPKC Women’s Leadership Summit will bring together like-minded businesspeople from across the country for a day of networking, empowerment, and philanthropy. The Summit will also raise awareness for the CPKC Women’s Open, with attendees receiving access to the tournament during the week and participating in clinics.
GOLF CANADA TO HOST CLINIC FOR INDIGENOUS YOUTH WITH SPECIAL GUEST ROSE ZHANG Golf Canada has connected with its First Tee network in the Vancouver area to provide children with a unique opportunity to join a golf clinic with LPGA Tour global rising star Rose Zhang. The clinic will take place at nearby Musqueam Golf and Learning Centre from 10:00am to 12:30pm with Zhang joining the group from 10:45 to 11:45am to showcase her game and answer questions from the group. Participants will then break up into three groups to develop their golf and life skills through First Tee – Golf Canada’s youth development program providing accessible and welcoming introductions to golf, along with life-enhancing experiences through the sport. First Tee – BC has been delivering programming to youth at the Musqueam Golf and Learning Centre since 2021, as well as golf courses, schools, and community centres across the province.
